May Wrap Up

Sharing is caring!

May started out as a slow reading month. I was in the middle of A Conjuring of Light but nothing else was really catching my attention. Thankfully I did start reading more books near the end of the month and had a really great reading month!

A Conjuring of Light by V.E Schwab

I loved this book. It was the perfect conclusion to the shades of magic series and I can’t wait to read more of Schwab’s books. I actually just bought Vicious ❤

Brave Enough

I read this arc that comes out in August. I enjoyed it and thought it was a cute contemporary about a ballerina who has cancer. I’ll share my full review once it’s release date gets closer.

Mindfulness on the Go

I love self-help books and this one had great and easy tips that have helped me be more mindful and present. It was a quick read and very helpful!

The Hazel Wood

Creepy and fantastic writing. I read this one for the cursed books book club pick. I still sort of have mixed feelings about it but you can read my review here.

Moms who stay and fight

Such a great read for me as a new mom! It was inspiring and gave me a lot of hope.  Full review here.

So much hype. But not my favorite. I liked parts and other parts I hated. Not my new favorite fantasy but it was okay. Full review here.

Before She Ignites

I got this book in my owl crate last September but I wasn’t sure I wanted to pick it up. I knew I’d need to be in the right mood for it and I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy lately so I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did! This story is amazing. I loved Mira and the mental health representation. This was such a great read. I can’t wait for book 2!

Final Draft

A book about writing is always a fun read. This one wasn’t my favorite YA contemporary but I did find the descriptions of writing very accurate. My full review is on Goodreads.

The Night Circus

Such a magical world. Loved the story and the characters and the magic. And it was read by Jim Dale. Such a great audiobook, I HIGHLY recommend because it’s amazing!!

Happier Podcast

I started listening to this again. Love Gretchen Rubin and this podcast has been one of my favorites since it started. It’s fun to be listening to it again.

This book has been on my TBR for awhile and I’m loving it so far! I’ll probably include more in my June Wrap up since I’m not very far in yet.

I’ve been trying to watch less tv. In the middle of May, I realized just how much time I spend watching TV and it’s really time to change that. I’m hoping that moving forward I take more time to read and be present instead of always having the tv on. That being said, here’s what I watched in May.

Grey’s Anatomy

I finished watching Greys in May. Loved the show! Definitely, something I’ll rewatch depending on my mood.

White Collar

Such a fun show. But I can only watch an episode or 2 before getting bored 🤷‍♀️

Jane the Virgin

I just got all caught up with Jane the Virgin and I’m just gonna leave this here:

Since I’m going to start writing more personal posts (a few lifestyle posts as well as talking about mental health) I’ve decided to add this section to my monthly wrap up!

My husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary!

I’m a Mormon and in our church, we give babies a blessing after they are born. In May my husband blessed our little baby girl. It was beautiful and amazing and I know she’s going to do great things! It was also fun to have my family in town for the blessing.

I had a big breakthrough this month and was able to take another step forward in forgiving my abuser and letting go of the past even more. I realized its time to let go of all the hate and anger I’ve had in my heart for so long and it feels so good to be letting go (even though that’s hard)

Blogging + Social Media

I wrote several reviews this month which you can read here and here. I also shared my very first income report! May was still a slowish month for blogging, but I’ve got so many great posts planned for June and I can’t wait to share them with you! I also plan on taking a mini hiatus from Twitter in June because I’ve been wanting to work on my book but always end up on twitter instead. I’ve deleted the app from my phone but I’ll occasionally pop in via my computer.

All in all, May was a really good month! I’m excited for June and everything that I hope to read. What was your favorite read in May?
