Hey friends, I’m a little behind on my blogging! I’ve been working on my book and haven’t given a life update since February. I am going to be spreading these out a little more, and not writing them every month. But, I’m really active on Instagram and Twitter daily if you ever want to see more of the day to day life!

In my Currently posts I share things that I’m currently watching, reading, and loving! As well as give a mini life update!

Currently Watching…

…I’m still making my way through the new season of Grey’s Anatomy! I’m loving it so much. For the first time in a few seasons, I feel like I did when watched the first few seasons. Also, the episode where they addressed sexual assault was so moving and powerful! I had to be in the right frame of mind to watch it, but it gave me chills and made me cry!

…Survivor. Griffin and I just discovered that there are 34 seasons of Survivor on Hulu. We both grew up watching the show, but we haven’t seen it in years! We started with the most recent season (because season 1 wasn’t all that exciting tbh) and guys. This show is insane! We’re loving it!

…Shadowhunters. I’ve been making my way through all of Cassandra Clare’s books and I decided to watch the show. I like the books better, but the show is pretty fun to watch too.

Currently Reading…

…I’m currently reading The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab. This was her debut novel that was recently republished and I am loving it! It’s full of magic and mystery and I think I’ll love every book that Victoria writes. You need to pick this one up!

Again, but Better. I received an ARC from NetGalley of Again, but Better (read all of my thoughts here) and I adored this book! It’s not out until May 7th, but you can preorder it now and you should! It’s everything I love in a good romantic contemporary plus, there’s a little bit of magic and that made the story even more fun!

Children of Blood and Bone. Wow. I just started rereading this for my book club this month and it is so good! What a fun read. I love this fantasy world!

...It Ends With Us. I just barely finished my first Colleen Hoover book yesterday. I was very impressed. I’ve heard good and bad things about her books and I struggled through some parts of this one, but in the end, I really enjoyed it. I liked the writing style and loved the main character.

Currently loving…

…my Simplified Planner (get $10 off yours!) Last week they launched the academic planners (from August 2019 – July 2020) and the covers are beautiful. I personally like the calendar year planner (Jan – Dec) so I won’t be purchasing a planner until those go on sale in September. But the covers are gorgeous. I ordered mini notebooks in all of the colors (with pineapple points, so basically I just paid for shipping) and they are beautiful. I love my SP that I’ve been using this year. I love having a planner and it has so much space and it’s simple!

…being on Bookstagram! I changed things around in my Instagram world. I now have just one IG account for all things book + blog @tayepperson. Before I had one for my blog and one for bookstagram and now I just have one. I will probably be using it to mostly talk about books, but there will be more blog and personal stuff as well! But I love the bookstagram community and I really just love talking about books with people!

…my survivor playlist on Spotify. This is what I listen to after a bad night or after I have a PTSD episode. It fills me with strength and gives us music to dance to.

…Von loves books! I love it! Every day we sit and read almost all of the board books we own. Over and over again. She really helps me stay present and I just love that she loves to read!

…the warmer weather! It is supposed to snow tomorrow (boo) but it is finally starting to feel like spring!

Life Currently…

…I am *trying* to do #CampNaNoWriMo. My goal was/is to write 30k words of my book/finish the first draft. So far I’ve written about 4k words, so progress! But not what I had originally planned. But it’s still early and anything can happen! Speaking of my novel, it’s slowly coming together. This is the first draft and as someone who doesn’t plot much, this is really where a lot of my brainstorming/simply getting the story out happens. I’ll go back and tighten and edit everything once I’ve finished. Right now I’m really just trying to get the story out.

…Work! I’ve been an intern for the past 6 months for Courtney Sjoberg who runs an Instagram hashtag membership site. It’s been fun to be part of her team and to have a job that I can do from home!

…I am now working with the young women in my ward. I got a new calling (this is what we call the volunteer jobs we’re asked to do in my church). Every other Sunday we meet together as young women and I’ll get to teach some lessons. And every Tuesday we have activities! I’m really excited about this calling, I can’t wait to get to know the girls and learn from them and hopefully they can learn from me too.

…Von is starting to say more words. She’s really comprehending a lot more, but she doesn’t say much yet. She says ball, mom, dad, dog. She uses lots of gestures and pointing and grunting at times but we’re starting to communicate more and that’s really exciting!

The past few weeks have been a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to the rest of April (my sister is coming to visit!) I’ll also be getting my wisdom teeth out soonish. Just figuring out insurance and when works with Griffin’s schedule. So that will be an adventure.

What have you been up to lately? Read anything good? Any shows I need to check out?!

  4. I’m a big reader and finishing at least one a week. For a while I didn’t have the time but I’m so glad I’m back into it. My favorite book this year is Where The Crawdads Sing – I can’t stop recommending it. One of my little loved books and it was such a pleasure. He’s now in second grade and loves to read. My 5 year old never got the bug so reading to her isn’t a thing. I hope she feels different when she starts Kindergarten in the fall.
