Happy Friday friends! We made it to the weekend, and it’s a 3 day weekend for a lot of us. I’m excited for the Fourth of July. Growing up, it was one of my favorite holidays. Provo (where I grew up) celebrates big with hot air balloons and parades and Stadium of Fire fireworks. We also always had family barbecues and I’ve just got so many great memories.
As I’ve gotten older, I recognize that we still have a ways to go for people in the country to be truly free. But I know we can celebrate the freedoms we do have and work towards the freedoms we are hoping for in the future.
This year, our celebrations will look different than normal, just because we aren’t going home to Provo. I’m excited to spend time with family though.
As always, I’m sharing some good + happy things from life and the internet today. I’d love to hear what was good and happy in your life this week, so be sure to let us know in the comments.
I stumbled on this article earlier this week. For so long I felt like I was behind, like I wasn’t moving fast enough with my blog writing or my book writing. Sometimes going slow though, is completely fine and totally necessary.
2 I’m taking a social media break
I hopped off social media on Monday this week. I’m not gonna lie, the first few days were incredibly hard. I found myself struggling to know what to do with my time. Today though was the first day I didn’t wake up feeling the urge to check social media. I read my scriptures instead. For the next month, I’ll still be here on my blog, at least a little bit as I do the Write the Every Day challenge. I won’t be sharing all my posts for that, but I will share some. I’ll be back on social media sometime in August.
For the last little while, I’ve been searching for more essay-like blogs about motherhood, life, and living. I somehow stumbled on Coffee + Crumbs. A blog and community that has been around for a few years. I’ve loved reading old articles and have cried more than once while reading. I feel like I’ve found my people for this season of life that I’m in. This community is a great place for women, mother or not.
4 Meeting online friends in real life!
Earlier this week, I met up with a bookstagram friend, Ashley. It was so fun to meet her and her kids in person. V loved that there were some little kids too. What a time to live in, where we can meet friends who don’t live super close but that we can still connect with them! I love that.
