Good + Happy #6

Happy Friday friends! I missed sharing my weekly good + happy post last week, as we were busy with family in town. But it’s back today!

Every Friday I share things that are good + happy from my life and on the internet! As always, I’d love to hear what good and happy things are happening in your life this week!

1 A happy list

Way back in 2012, I had a random notebook that I started filling with things that made me happy. There are big and small things on that list. I found myself thinking about it the other day and wondering why I stopped writing in it. I think It was because I went on a mission for my church and I either filled the notebook or didn’t bring it with me. Either way, it was a habit I enjoyed and one that I started again! In that old notebook, I had over 1000 things that made me happy or had made me smile. I have a million empty notebooks, so I grabbed one yesterday and started making a new list!

Doing this makes me stay mindful and also pay more attention to the good things that are happening in my life. Big and small. Plus, it’s fun to look back on the 1-3 word lines and see what made me happy.

2 There is peace in Christ

I’ve had a pretty anxiety-filled week. Some of the anxiety came from a certain thing that was happening, but when I woke up this morning, filled with anxiety, I couldn’t figure out why. I’ve been reading conference talks every morning recently and today I read Elder Holland’s talk from April 2021. It’s all about how during these days there will be a lot of commotion and noise and fear. But that at the end of the day (or really any time) we can find peace in Christ.

I’m still feeling a bit anxious today, but I also have that hope in Christ that there is greater peace that can be found in Him. Today I’m looking to Him instead of looking to the world to find some inner peace.

3 Swimming Lessons

Von started swimming lessons this week! The first day brought lots of tears, but yesterday there was a huge grin on her face the entire time she was in the water. I’m so glad she’s been so brave and is trying new things! I also hope that next week is actually warm since some of the mornings have been pretty chilly and all the kids are shaking by the time the 30-minute lesson is over. I’ve loved how all the parents cheer all the kids on. It feels so good to have a community around when your kid tries something new. I’ve missed that over this past year.

4 The In Between

“I sometimes wonder if I was destined for another life. If I was supposed to do something different or make different choices that would have led me down a path with a better outcome…

Even as life crumbled around me, I could see my fresh start right around the corner.” – Laura Pruitt
