Home Office Tour

Happy Thursday friends! It’s been a long time since I had a room of my own to work, write, and escape to when I need a minute that isn’t my bed or the bathroom floor. We lucked out when we bought our house and got an extra room which meant both Griff and I both got rooms for an office/guest room (his not mine).

Today I wanted to show you how I’ve started to decorate my office and what my plans are for the future.

The #1 thing I knew I’d be adding to this room as soon as we moved in was bookshelves. It’s been nearly 2 years since I had an actual bookshelf, and it was time. I thought about getting the Billy bookshelves from IKEA, but our IKEA isn’t super close, and shipping them would have cost more than both shelves combined so I went a different route.

I picked these white bookshelves from Target and I’ve loved them so far. They’re sturdy and exactly what I need. I’ve thought about adding a third shelf to the room, but for now, I’m focusing on organizing my books and donating a few that I don’t need anymore.

Shelves // Chair (similar here and here)

With this yellow chair (linked similar as our chair is no longer sold), I’ve created a little reading nook for myself which I’m thrilled about! I have always LOVED reading in bed, but Griff likes to go to bed early, now I have a cozy spot for the nights I want to stay up and read.

I may get a small pink loveseat someday to swap out with this chair, but for now, it works perfectly!

Desk (similar) // Planner (similar) // Photowall

On the other side of the room, I have my desk and writing space. This is where I write blog posts, do homework, and of course, work on my novel.

I wanted to get a painting or something to go over the desk that was beautiful and inspiring to me. Photowall reached out to me to see if I wanted to have them send me a canvas print, I said yes! I picked out this floral canvas print (search Think Pink on their site to find this design) and I was so excited when it arrived! I got to put the canvas together and Griff helped me hang in on the wall.

It’s exactly what I was looking for to inspire my writing space.

I also plan on using this corner space creatively with photos and words that will inspire my current WIP, whatever that is at the time. Right now it means I need some photos of guitars and ballet shoes.

Then, in this last corner of the room, we have Von’s preschool set up. I’ll be sharing more next week about what we’re doing for preschool this year and why I’m starting this year, even though she’s only 2.5. But I love this little corner of the room and Von loves it too.

She helped pick out the table and chairs (which had to be pink!) and I’m so excited for the memories we’ll be making here.
