A few days ago I went on deep dive on Naomi Davis’s blog (Love Taza) and found this post from February. Where she shared all the things she was looking forward to now that things are slowly starting to open up and there seems to be more light at the end of the tunnel that we’ve been in since March 2020.
As I sat back and thought about the things I’m most looking forward to, I wanted to share my own list. I feel like the past 15 months have been some of the hardest of my life, but also some of the best. I’ve learned to slow down and my focus shifted in a way I know it wouldn’t have had the world not shut down and kept us at home.
All that to say, I am grateful that more and more people are getting vaccinated and that things are returning to a new normal.
What are you looking forward to?
Gathering for Church
Technically, this started back up two weeks ago, but I am so grateful to be back in the church building and with our congregation. We moved in July so many of the people are still strangers to us, but I’m excited to meet people and to learn about Christ with others.
I did hug a few friends after I’d been vaccinated, but I’m really excited to see good friends and give them a hug again.
In person preschool
We just registered Von to start preschool in the fall (how is she already old enough for that!?) I tried to do a homeschool preschool, but when I got hit hard with seasonal depression and that stopped. Not saying that I couldn’t homeschool, even with on and off again depression. But I’m glad that going in person is an option. The socialization alone will be worth it!
Being with family for the holidays
I think one of the things I’ve missed the most the past year/year and a half was gathering with family. I have seen my family a handful of times over the past year. But I’m ready for the big holiday gatherings with family again.
Eating in restaurants
I feel like we didn’t do this a ton before the pandemic, we’ve always been an order-in kind of family. But we still liked the option. Plus, there are a few things I can’t wait for (like eating chips and salsa before a meal comes.)
Taking a workout or dance class in person
I’ve been wanting to try yoga in person, or even a dance class because I loved dancing growing up. I’m excited to see what my city has to offer and try a class or two.
