January TBR

I made another TBR! It’s the 11th of January and I haven’t finished a book yet and that feels a little weird for me, since I’m always reading! BUT these are some fantastic books that I’m hoping to read and finish this month!

Click here to watch the video, or keep scrolling to watch below!

Books Mentioned in my video (affiliate links):

The Emancipation of Evan Walls — a dad who’s terrified for the life of his new daughter, praying she won’t have the same experience he did as a Black man in the 60’s

These Violent Delights — A Chinese retelling of Romeo and Juliet with magic!

A Court of Thorns and Roses — First book in a trilogy. A very loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast

This Savage Song — A dark YA where monsters wish they were human and most humans act like monsters

How to Walk Away — When an engaged couple is in a bad plane crash, the course of their life is forever changed.

A Heart so Fierce and Broken — Book two in the Cursebreaker series. A world trapped in time because of a curse, and one girl who could help save it all.

What’s one of your goals or intentions this mont What’s one of your goals or intentions this month? Whew. It’s March again. Anyone else feeling more agitated or anxious? That’s what happens when it gets closer to anniversary days of things that were traumatic. So if you’re looking at this month and thinking “I just wanna get through” I see you. This month I’m hoping to channel some of my anxiety and focus into starting a new book! I’m starting the first draft of something new and I’m looking forward to being creative that way. I’m also hoping to put my phone down more and be in the moment or in the quiet since those moments have brought me clarity and peace lately. All of my goal are on my blog today! Link in my bio. Now tell me about yours! I’d love to know how I can cheer you on this month, big or small 💕

📱 Better Together Do you give pretty high ratings? Most of my recent reads have been 4 or 5 stars, since I’ve been trying to put down books that I’m not loving as much! But this month it also makes sense, as half of my reads we’re re-reads and I don’t read books again (generally) unless it was a 4 or a 5 for me!

Repeat after me: “I can do today.” I was 19 w Repeat after me: “I can do today.” I was 19 when I first heard this mantra. And since then, whenever I’ve been having a bad mental health day or a bad day in general, I repeat this to myself (and sometimes it changes to “I can do this minute or hour”) You can do today.
You’ve got a pretty good track record for making it through hard days so far, and you can do today, even if it isn’t your best day. Have a good week friends ❤️
BOOK REVIEW 👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏽 I *might* BOOK REVIEW 👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏽 I *might* still be silently crying since I finished this last night. I’ve read a lot of books about breakups. A lot. But this one, ouch. When You Were Everything follows Cleo, who’s struggling to find herself and her place now that she’s lost her best friend. Told in then/now we get to see their friendship fall apart and the aftermath of their friend break up. And like, I wasn’t ready for the rush of memories that came. Or all the feelings that hurt my heart, knowing what it’s like to have a friend walk away or fall apart from your friendships But this book was so, so, so good. 5/5 stars. Definitely a favorite of the year. I highly recommend. It’ll give you all the feels but also make you smile. #tayeppreviews
