Tay’s Book Club May 2020 Pick

Hey friends! A few things are changing around here, including the name of my book club! For over a year it was the Book Lovers Book Club and was exclusively on Facebook.

As of today, it’s now Tay’s Book Club! We still have our exclusive Facebook group, but I’ll be sharing more each month here on my blog and having weekly discussions over on Instagram (@bookish_tay). Every month I’ll announce the next month’s book, which is what I’m doing today!

Last year we read Letter’s to The Lost by Brigid (which I LOVED!!!) and I’m so excited to read A Curse So Dark and Lonely!

About A Curse So Dark and Lonely

Fall in love, break the curse.

Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year, Prince Rhen, the heir of Emberfall, thought he could be saved easily if a girl fell for him. But that was before he turned into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. Before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, Harper learned to be tough enough to survive. When she tries to save a stranger on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s pulled into a magical world.

Break the curse, save the kingdom.

Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. A prince? A curse? A monster? As she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

Happy Reading!

  1. This one sounds great! And I love the cover!

    1. It has such a stunning cover!

  2. I’m starting to curse myself for setting up such a strict TBR each month. I’ve been tagged in read-a-thons and book clubs and I can’t participate in any of them unless I let up on my own leash haha! I have this particular book on my TBR, but not til at least next month or even June! I’m starting to think that I need to rethink that – hah!

    1. Haha! I feel ya! We’re not starting until May, so you can definitely join us if you want! I used to set super strict TBRs but then I realized I’m too much of a mood reader, so now I just have monthly hopefuls.

  3. This book looks like a fun read! I’ll have to add it to my TBR and give it a shot!

    1. I’ve heard so many good things about it, I’m really excited to finally pick it up!

  4. I love that you’ve made your own book club, and I love even more that you’ve changed the name to have your own name in it! I don’t even care how cheesy this next part is going to sound: own it, girl! I love the idea of reading the same book at the same time as others so you can discuss all your thoughts and feelings about them – if I EVER get through the hundreds of unread books I have at home I definitely need to join a book club for sure ?

    1. Thank you so much!! I felt a little silly about it at first, but I’m so glad that I’m owning it and making it truly my own! It’s so much fun to read books at the same time as other people 🙂 I hope you’ll join at some point, I have stack and stacks of unread books too!

  5. I just followed your book club Instagram! I’ve been on the hunt for new books to read. I haven’t read a fantasy-like book in a while so this one sounds extra intriguing!

    1. Yay! So happy to have you, I love new friends who also love reading! I go through spurts where I read a ton of fantasy and other times when I don’t. I am excited to pick this one up though!

  6. Love the new book club name! Adding this book to my tbr list. I’m always on the lookout for recommendations!

    1. Thank you so much!! I hope you enjoy reading it!

  7. I absolutely love this book. Enjoy!!!

    1. Yay!! I’m so excited to finally read it!
